A cute poem about Grasshoppers

While sitting here in the tall green grass
Waiting for the shaking to pass
I felt a scare from deep behind
It felt like a giant in the blind

Then I felt the footsteps getting heavy
I wondered if I had to jump in the levy
The ground around me was beginning to quiver
I felt my whole body start to shiver

As the blue sky above was turning black
I knew I was about to be attacked
Out of nowhere came a giant foot
I turned around to take a quick look

I was about to be stomped into the ground
So I started jumping all around
I hopped one big hop to get away
Because that foot didn’t look like it wanted to play

Here comes cricket jumping my way
He showed me the way out and saved the day
We both hopped away from that mess
That was sure a close call, I guess

Then all of a sudden we smelled some smoke
The air was so thick we started to choke
We looked up and saw the fire
So we jumped into the levy and onto a tire

I looked up and there was a beautiful girl
Her eyes were like a precious pearl
She stood there shaking her antennae at me
I knew then we were meant to be

In excitement I hopped over to her
As I got closer I could hear her purr
We rubbed our antennae upon each other
Right then I knew we would be lovers

As the giant foot started coming our way
I told her, “Don’t worry, everything will be okay”
We both hopped together through the dogwood
So we wouldn’t be squished where we stood

As we hopped hand in hand
It was like we were in a dreamland
We looked into each other’s eyes
And knew then that we would never say goodbye
