A rather charming piece of juvenilia from my not so distant adolescence
Once in a springtime flowered glade
I came across a wary doe
The sunlight cross her velvet played
As if in heavenly gold arrayed
That seemed to shift and flow

She was dainty her step was light
Her features soft, but twas her eyes
That filled me with a deep delight
So rich and dark but also bright
So innocent but also wise

She sensed me and from my presence flew
Ghostly through the thorns and burrs
I was lost in longing till I met you
Then gazing at your eyes I knew
From what model god made hers
