The suicide of a teenager.
She bacame distant as the poison took effect,
Giving her one final chance to reflect
On why it was she had never known care,
And knowing that you were fully aware
Of her damaged mind and damaged soul
Which never could be pure and whole.

The shadows crept and closed in,
And as the ligths faded the room became dim.
Her head swam in pain, frustration and sorrow-
Yet still she wished for no tomorrow.
She cried and shook and felt alone in her room,
Praying it would all be over soon.

She told you how it was she felt,
The first time her mother had used the belt,
She cried in agony and wanted to leave:
Turned to you and together you theived
She needed help and you were her light,
You answered sorrows, thinking they were right.

Her parents had no knowledge of what together you did,
They cared not,
Only wanted to be rid
Of a child who had wrecked their freedom and life,
Always hurt their feelings and caused them strife.
They never loved her at all,
Wanted her gone, weren't there to see her fall.

You were there when she passed,
Not knowing that it would take effect so fast.
She never realised it before,
How much it was you did adore
Her smile and her company
From which now you will always be free.

Now you lie on your bed and cry
Wishing you hadn't had to say goodbye.
You feel that guilt,
Knowing that you helped her to wilt.
You saw her die
And now, with tearful eyes, you wonder why
You didn't help her when she asked.
Now the chance is gone, along with her smile, pain and sorrow.
