A poem about a widow's struggle to raise 2 children
A woman with two children,
a husband passed too soon,
They felt the cold December,
In 71, just after June

Back to the country they went
where the husband and wife first met
She gave herself for her children
as she did from the onset

Sodie bottles along the highway
held a fortune in their eyes
A bottle here, a bottle there,
a nickel could save their lives

Flour gravy and some biscuits
not much, but just enough
Those bottles along the highway
were like diamonds in the rough

He up there in God's land
looked down on them those days
Sodie bottles made in Heaven
ended up on those highways.
