I wrote this about the color yellow in 6th grade (It's better than it sounds, I swear!)
World of Yellow

Your sun dipped hands and star burned eyes
To the wretched earth you whisper.
Thoughts of hope
To an empty field, and unborn daisies
A single tear falls from your eye,
And the land is washed with sunshine.
And left behind by the tide,
Is amber soil lifting up trees with lemons
Saffron bark, light gilded leaves.
Canary grass brushed with
The phantom heat of summer.
And when the sun goes,
Slowly rustling back through the fields of maize,
Into the horizon of gamboges
Still, everything glows with aureate.
I sit next to you and watch
As you wave your hand, and make,
This land of gold;
The earth, the air, the seas,
Building up this world,

Of Yellow.
