Learning the hard way
I watch as you enter
Your hair blowing across your face
Covering the scars
We both know are there

I watch as you socialize
Something I was never good at
You go with the flow
And you smile brightly

I watch as you help others
The way you helped me
Gentle and kind
You pick up the pieces to everyone's mess

I watch as you meet someone
You like him, that's obvious
He likes you too
I'm happy
But I'm scared, too

I watch as you fall in love
You'll do anything for him
You've given yourself up completely
But you can't see
That he hasn't

I watch as you get hurt
There was nothing I could do
You wouldn't believe me even if I told you
You loved a lier and you know that now

I watch as you heal
And I help you as well
I promise I'll never leave you
The way he did

I watch as we become closer
And become best friends
We know everything about each other
And we love each other so much

I watch as seasons pass and our friendship grows
We decide
We don't need guys to make us happy
They're just a waste of time

I watch as you smile
And I smile too
For you are my best friend
And I'll always love you
