A short story about a lilly finding her strength.
Today I saw a lilly growing in a field of grass.
Warmed by the sun, and scattered by the wind, it grew without it's friends nearby.
It cried out to the sky, "Bring me my hope!", but it was unanswered.
As night settled in, and the moisture collected,
gentle drops of dew collected on it's petals.
Weeping softly, it closed it's petals, and looked to the ground for its strength, but it was not found.
All night it wept, the gentle drops falling to the earth, moistening it roots,
dampening it's soil. Then, in the moment it felt the most alone, a songbird
began to sing. The lilly, if only for an instant, opened its heart, and its petals,
to listen to the song of the bird, and it saw a new sun rising. A gentle breeze drying its eyes, and it cried out to the morning, "why am I alone!",
and the wind answered saying, "I blow the winds of change across
all things. My brother the sun warms the hearts, and my sister the moon quiets the minds.
You are not alone my child. You are a lilly in a field of grass, being grown to bring
beauty to all the rest."
As the lilly quietly sighed, it took a breath and looked to the sun. It reached higher with a new song
in her heart.
