a recent work
I wrestled it ongoing
that steel hardness around my heart
my emotions slipping
sliding
seeking one solid hold

I was sooooo hungry

I didn't even know what hunger
was
fled the knowing
to stay safe
encircled in protection

all the time I secretly knew
no avoiding truth
I held hunger in my soul
a steel hardness
unbreakable, erupting

softness filled me
fills me now
some hunger gentler in its touch

your touch

nothing appeases
such hunger
other than you

your touch

belief rumbles doubt
doubt grates rough
knowing fades into one
smooth wave

did I mention hunger?

my hunger for you
my roughness for you
my belief in you

one gentle touch
a shared breath
unbearable emotion

and there is nothing else
in this world
aside from that hunger
you
me
us
