About one of life's inevitabilities.
Day of Reckoning

When we're very young,
we often don't think through
All that we say, all that we do.
Rash decisions, thoughtless plan,
we hurt another woman or man,
or even child, God forbid
as though our actions stay always hid.
But listen, for I tell you true;
your deeds will come back to haunt you.
As sure as there is Father, Son and Ghost,
the day of reckoning will come to host
a pity party like no other,
when we've sinned against a brother
or other precious soul we should have protected.
You know, instead of the one you rejected.
Bitter tears may fall like rain;
you'll never be that young again.
Too late for forgiveness, too late to cry.
Yesterday has passed you by
and taken all except one thing,
that awful day of reckoning..
