A simple poem reflecting on the responsabilities of life at the brink of a new year.
Tying Up Loose Ends

Leftover Christmas lights messing with my head
The blurry brights are mocking me with words I haven’t said
I’m going to be alone when the clock strikes twelve
I’m too busy trying to kiss all the words I haven’t read

And New Years Eve is tugging on my sleeve
Asking for a brand new life that I can’t leave
I’m not able to leave it all behind
I can’t ignore the clutter that I’ve placed before my eyes

Hey there beautiful I’ve got a wish for you
Let loose your dreams until the world accepts you’re new
Smile because it’s the only gift that you can give today
That will warm tomorrow despite what you might undo

Leftover Christmas lights messing with my head
Forecast for today says that I should stay in bed
I’m too tired of trying to make things go my way
I’ll let the fireworks for a new start be in my heart instead
