I wrote this when I was 15 but now that I have a child it means even more to me.
A baby needs a parent to love them and care
A young child needs a parent to wash and comb their hair
Those terrible twos are such a hard time
But they're so cute you can't help but let them slide
A six year old needs a parent to play games
A ten year old needs to be taught it's wrong to call people names
A twelve year old is tough and knows it all
Then an hour later needs a parents shoulder to bawl
A thirteen year old is a new teen
They find out the world is rough and mean
They need some space because they're learning as they grow
There's a lot of pain, suffering, and mistakes as they go
Everything's important to a fourteen year old
And they'll always do the opposite of what their told
Kids get into trouble always have and always will
But even with the attitude you'll always love them still
Sixteen your baby comes alive
Before you know it their able to drive
Eighteen their leaving to make it on their own
Right before your eyes, you see your baby grown
Their walking down the isle now about to say I do
Your little baby can't be twenty-two
Twenty five already how could this be
Your baby is going to have a baby
A baby needs a grandparents love and understanding
Because growing up can be so demanding
