A sad poem about love and abuse
The Sparrow

Behind the broken window
A sparrow makes her nest
Red scars were bled
As she held the blade
He took another breath

Movements were slowed
they heard the singing birds
then prepared more quietly
their last sorrow filled words

Smiles faded where she slept
but the sparrow never wept
fed by the frenzied voices
those instigating noises
were her creative influences
for such beautiful music

There were no more tomorrows
she was sick of her sorrow
Hungry words piled over paper
rhyming love with lover

Love was sweet like the song of sparrows
He would cradle her forever
Dream of never leaving or letting go
Escape all the pressures of the days in between

Such Beautiful eyes that he longed for
after the fights and the beatings
The swearing and the lies
The lash from his father's belt
When he could not reply

Kisses were slow by autumn morning
when they decided to leave
both were silent that evening
as they left that place behind

when the families found them dead
the only thing that could be said
was that the parents had tried
werent to be blamed for suicide

how sweet the sparrow had sung
when their bodies had been hung
and the families never cried
weren't to be blamed for suicide
