Kids always think they'll do things differently than their parents.
When I'm all grown
I never will
Shake my pointed finger.
And if I do
Then I sure hope
For long it doesn't linger.

And I will never
Make my kids
Eat up their brussel sprouts.
And if I do
Then I will let
Them have themselves a pout.

And I sure know
That I will not
Kiss them before school.
And if I do
Then I will say
It's just a mother's rule.

And I will not
Shed a tear
When they leave out from my thumb.
And if I do
Then I will know
My mother I've become.
