Here is a collection of some of my poetry from college
My love is shallow,
easily penetrable
you can see the buried layers...
but how far will you wade into these waters?
There are stars and feathers surveying the surface,
and urchins and prickles that prey on the soft hearted ones.

My love is hollow,
surrounded by an invisible wall
But once surpassed, it will echo for eons
and fill the emptiness with whatever you give it
grasping for life in this abandoned cave

My love is impressionable,
malleable like clay
you can wipe your footprints here
but I reserve the right to change the mold
whenever i feel misused.

My love is cold,
dead as dawn after an ice storm
yearning to be held, warm in front of the fire
under blankets and wool
Will you lie beside me? inside these woven sheets?
to warm my bitter soul...

My love is hiding,
relenting all responsibility
asking you to count to ten and hunt for living clues
come out come out, i know you're here
won't you tell me where you are?
the fun is in the rollercoaster ride

My love is being taken away,
forced from my heart like a splinter
leaving behind fragments of memories, emotional scars
breathless and confused
my love surrenders to the pain

My love is leaving me,
backing away slowly and closing the door
he's packed his suitcase with a magazine and umbrella
fleeing from my tears
running away without cause or regard.

My love is shallow,
dessicated and alkaline
my world is exposed, everything has died
my tears are all gone
they cannot refresh the void.

I close my eyes and watch the stars
beneath my eyelids dance
into constellations
Ribbons and sparkles and beads converge
into the portraits of the night

My phone is lying on the floor
and i wait for it to make a sound
a sound that tells me you're alive
the sound that tells me you still care.
I watch my phone like it is your love,
Maybe it's presence should be enough
But i still want the affirmation
that the phone i see still rings.
ring... ring... please let me know you're alive.

The light is always brighter when night falls
a tiny glimmer in the world so vast
a moment in time gone too fast
a diamond in a coal mine

the light is always brighter as night falls
revealing the stars that shine on high
consuming the wishes i whispered to the sky
a criminal with an alibi

the light is always brighter as night falls
an intangible vision in a universe unknown
a nightlight that protects my bedroom door
a firefly run away from home

Light is always brighter as night falls
the dark is gone with a flip of a switch
but then the light isnt worth pursuing
if it is always at your fingertips

Breathe deep...
who knows when you will breathe again.
Breathe slow...
just in case this breath is your last.
Breathe silently...
so you can listen to yourself.
Breathe no more...
and you will find your inner peace...

The air feels cold on my tongue
but warm in my throat
I devour my breath
knowing it is my last...
I close my eyes
I feel my lungs steadily rise and release
...oblivious.
