A poem about "heartache".
My heart is a glass honey jar,
used to smash a cockroach
fleeing frantically across a hardwood floor.

You say you didn’t mean for it
to shatter
like that.
But surely

When you grasped it in your hands
and raised it,
looming over the witless victim,

surely you must’ve known.
