The sequel to Airy Balcony!
THE AIRY BALCONY- PART II

I will regale you with more of this as the saga is not over yet!!
Lakshmi gave me a set three keys this time telling one of these HAS to be the real key to my balcony!!!
Reached home past mid-night the other day and tried opening the lock nine times (each key three times!!). Did quite a bit of jabbing and pulling, just about managing not to attract the attention of the night guard. At one point I genuinely felt my earlier fiction might just get converted into a fact!!
When I told her this morning that the right key is still with her she vehemently denied it and even got her hubby by the phone to support her statements!!! And both kept telling me in chorus that THAT WAS the key!! This whole thing smacks of some kind of conspiracy to me now!! One key can go wrong, two keys might go wrong but four keys in a row....that is a little too unbelievable!! And I have also noticed some kind of pattern in this; she invariably gives these keys to me in the beginning of the week, preferably a Monday!! Very well knowing that, in my curiosity, I will try to open the lock late in the night when I return home and of course I will end up creating this commotion every time! I strongly suspect it might be something to do with the immediate neighbour. Queer old couple! I have had the opportunity to bump into them on a few occasions. What surprised me is that the old lady was unusually affectionate to me because I was Mr. Narayanan's tenant and the old man seemed unusually distressed that I was Mr.Narayanan's tenant! Mr. N used to reside here (the flat that I have occupied now) when he was a bachelor boy and the neighbour (now old man) was a newly married man then and the story goes that the new bride took a liking for the neighbourhood bachelor boy (Mr.N) and the husband developed an animosity for him!
I am still trying to figure out if I am being used in this whole episode to settle some old scores! The neighbour- old man sleeps in his balcony these days, just about a meter from the famous lock in question, and naturally, he is the most affected party in the whole process of my lock-opening!!
The jig-saw puzzle seems to be thickening and perhaps is getting more intriguing than the lock itself!

P.S. Lakshmi tells me that her pa-in-law has another 12 keys in his possession and plans to give me one each time to keep trying! And by the way, Lakshmi's pa-in-law's name is Mr.Narayanan and the rest of the story is that, story!
