This is a short poem about relationships and a love not meant to be!
After this I'm done and I will assume the role that
fate seems to have so cruelly allowed to fall my way.

She walked into my life and gave me more than I could dream.
She gave me love and a purpose for living.

She gave me hope and a reason to keep dreaming.
She is more amazing than I could ever begin to tell,
but sometimes I wonder if she was but a dream,

a figment of my imagination, to teach me things I never
knew I could learn but that in reality fate would never allow me to keep.
She became my everything. She was all I thought about and all I cared for.

She was my first priority. There was no greater or
exciting task than loving her and making her happy, but
somewhere along the line I failed and her heart moved on.

She walked out of my life and into his arms. She who had
become my everything had left and I had nothing. I wonder
why I was allowed to love her and passion allowed to run
so deep; knowing that it was never meant to be.......

Still we are friends, it seems that friends is what it was
meant to be all along. So as her friend, she will find none
truer.  And at the close of this poem, I lay aside my feelings,

I put aside my broken heart and stand beside her, to
support her no matter what decision she makes and to
be the friend I should have been all along.

So to the one I once called lover, my heart bids farewell
but to you who I now happily call my friend, my heart welcomes in!
