This poem was written in 1978, when I first became a Christian.
"My Master's Peace"

I think of You late at night.
My thoughts are Yours
in the morning light.
I think of all Your works of art
and feel the trembling
within my heart.
Your majestic hands created light;
divided by dark, equaled night.
You painted splendid skies for me
and poured forth mystic, crystal seas.
You sculptured mountains,
upon high;
for us to climb, my God and I.
You laid the valleys down below,
a place of rest for my wearied soul.
You sowed the grass
to cushion the ground
and sprinkled sweet-fragranced
flowers all around.
You hung two lights up in the sky;
one for day, the other night.
Stars were placed there
by your thoughtful Hand.
The moon still shines
upon the glittering sand.
The sun still shines
with radiance bright,
upon the land;
oh beauteous sight!
Oh heavenly Father,
Your goodness great!
You didn't stop there,
for You'd only begun to create!

You made little winged creatures
for the heavenly skies.
They spread their wings
in wondrous flight.
You mystified the seas
with shimmering fish.
You filled my world
with beauty such as this!
You created animals to fill the land;
then out of dust,
You created man.
You knew he needed a helper
to suit his needs;
so, from one of his ribs,
You created me!
Now, I know my purpose in life
is to help mankind
and lead them to Christ.
To me, You offer Eternity.
To You, I surrender all of me.
Use me as a tool to create
Your future "Master's Peace".
Use me as a brush
to paint Your Masterpiece...
