About my first time deployed overseas.
I stand and watch each flag pass by
atop it's wooden mount.
For each, a tear falls from my eye,
too many there to count.

The coffins line the cargo bay,
and friends bid sad goodbye.
Each one of these is gone, this day,
and yet they cannot die.

For each and every mother's son,
each Daddy's little girl,
an enemy has been undone,
a foe's sails have been furled.

And though they've fallen in the sand,
and shall not rise again,
our brethren greet their Father and
may fin'ly rest. Amen.
