One of the poems featured in my one woman art show in 1985
We have lost
That wall of sound.
Instruments of the earth
Once were bread and bone
In these stilled woods,
Where only timbered spirits sang.
Now close your white eyes,
And feel the breath of our fathers
Still hot upon your neck.
