I can still remember cradling her in my arms. Monotetra.
Red crumpled face and peeling skin,
Eyes screwed shut, building cry within,
Fed and replete, shows toothless grin,
My heart you win, my heart you win.

Trying to speak gurgles and coos,
Your first word is world breaking news,
Surprised foot forwards, bright new shoes,
Cuteness let loose, cuteness let loose.

Off to school now, treading new ground,
A whole new world, friends made, joy found,
Life’s learnt lessons, laughter’s light sound,
Merry-go-round, merry-go-round.

Verge of full grown, carefree pursuit,
Learning full time, works bear fruit,
Having endless frolic to boot,
Life is a hoot, life is a hoot.

Years flown by, now young adult grown,
Partner besides, she's not alone,
Burgeoning life, a gift is shown,
Dear child your own, dear child your own.
