This is the first poem I wrote. It's not great or clever, but it made me write more.
To me the world will never move.
Its estuaries and quays will never swell,
Its lakes and sea’s will never tell me of their youth and lonely days.

For me my little boat will always sit on the riverside
My heart will never skip and float into a wider tide.
Its breadths and strides forever kept close, kept aside.

One day my boat sailed your way, my heart to your side.
Whether I was secretly rowing at night or singing out loud,
To lose myself, for now I am here, I am here.

*

For me my world is full of motion,
Seascapes of rainbow liquids pain coloured sickness.
Now the quiet will come and go, with me behind, my boat in tow.

The wider tides have taken me, in hand from my riverside.
Through estuaries and quays to wider seas and cooler breeze,
For now, I am here, at sea, by your side.
