Everyone feels lonliness at times, sometimes more keenly than others.
Alone.

Walk the measured distance,
Like a convict to the noose,
Stare out the window briefly,
Watch the rain come pouring down.
Alone.

Let life carry you away,
Like a dead man to the grave,
Watching the happy couples,
Wishing you were one of them,
Sitting on the bench you are,
Alone.

Lying on the sandy beach,
As a bird just washed ashore,
Your lovely wings are broken,
And your voice will sing no more,
No one sees the tears you cry,
Alone.

Walk the darkened hallway,
The doctor to waiting room,
No hope left; no medicine,
No known cure for this disease,
Youth died of a broken heart,
Alone.

Left on the side of the road,
To die, it bleeds and whimpers,
No one loves it; no one cares,
And no one comes to save it,
Slowly, painfully it dies,
Alone.
