This poem was written for my wife and best friend in life, Carrie.
Your eyes are so beautiful and hazel in color.
Your smile, gentle and subtle.
Oh, how I love your warm embrace,
How you come to me with such grace.
Such grace...

Long hours away from you pains my heart.
But it's hope that carries me through,
With expectations of seeing you.
Seeing you...

From holding your soft hands,
To discussing family plans.
From staring in your endless eyes,
To bringing home a thoughtful surprise.
To holding our kids in a circle.
I never want to let go of our family.
Our family...

The hours are not long enough.
They can't contain what I feel.
But I'll take what I can,
For it's being with you that makes life real.
Holding on to memories of the past,
I look forward to new ones.
Together we travel as companions in life.
Together we'll smile and cry.
