This is dedicated to my friend
Her eyes were warm,
Her manner caring.
She was quite a friend,
So nice, so daring.

With a spirit as free as hers,
It always seemed to amaze.
Cassie was always there, it seemed,
With a soul that nothing could faze.

She had a very caring heart
That was full of love and fight.
It seemed nothing could diminish her
Until that one dark night…

I saw the news in the paper,
And I couldn’t believe my eyes.
Cassie, my friend, was murdered,
And the murderers told nothing but lies.

I saw her face in the picture,
And I knew what I heard was true.
For no particular reason,
They had killed the girl that I knew.

I heard the story on the news,
And my heart filled up with hate.
How could I forgive them
When the idea came way too late?

Cassie was a caring friend,
Murdered for some lie.
But there is nothing I can do.
All I can do is cry.

And although a bit of time has passed,
The pain still seems so new.
My heart remains scarred and bleeding.
Cassie, I’ll never forget you.
