My first attempt at a sonnet.
If This Is Love?

If this is love then I have been led on.
‘Tis not what I believed a love should be.
Before another sun has come and gone.
I’ll snap the binding chords, set myself free.

Love should not break the heart of one in love,
Nor take him to the depths of dark despair.
Love ought to be a blessing from above.
A shared love is so precious and so rare.

This so called love that does entrap we two,
Makes light of all the vows we ever made.
It’s time to leave, to head for pastures new.
I fear this game for too long has been played.

No use trying to give it one last chance,
And see whether our love we can enhance?
