A poem about a Midnight encounter with a nightingale.
Was a midnight on which we met,
That Nightingale and I.
He stared deep into my face,
As mine eyes did meet his.
Without a sound,
He went to fly,
And beckoned me with his wing.
Together we took high into the clouds,
Bidding the earth goodbye.
“Fly with me!”
He did proclaim,
And to the air I did take.
My body melted away from me,
And my mind was at once set free.
Like a child reborn I was,
Amazed at everything before me.
Brilliant Stars,
Majestic moon king,
All of them new to me.
The cuckoo clock then cried out the day,
And to home the nightingale delivered me.
Safe again,
Back to my bed,
Left to ponder my midnight discovery.
