New York City on a good day
Tompkins Square Park

Well isn’t this a pretty picture?
I do my best to mess my life up
But I’m sitting in the grass on a Sunday afternoon with no shoes on
A fresh coat of polish on my toes
A new pair of sandals I stole
They’re gold
My foot peels like an orange
To reveal the fleshy part of my soul

I got my paycheck on Thursday
Three days later I’m broke again
I need to quit smoking
I want to write
A song
A play
A promise
A beautiful day
All I ever seem to write are words
