to my daughter
Her name is Maisie Mae
and I love her more each day.
I wish she would come to stay,
but she lives far away,
much to my dismay.

She is my sun ray,
and when I pray
not to go astray,
God hears words I convey.
And lights the way.

I call my daughter 'Maisie Mae,'
a joke in our family way.
Sometimes tears betray
when I want laughter to stay.
Our love we always display.

She is Emily, not Maisie Mae
and I am missing her today.
I wish my tears would go away,
and happiness would stay,
but she isn't here, to my dismay.
