About a young man dealing with being away from the girl he loves.

                                                Memories

They’ve always been a part of my life
They’ve always been there for me in strife
I guess they seem to define me
I guess they’ll always be by me

I never thought there could be a better moment
Than one allowing love of football to foment
But since this summer I’ve been blown away
By how far from reality this thought’s gone astray

Yes they’ve always been a part of my life
And yes I’ll still need them during strife
But now it’s out with the old and in with the new
Because all my best memories are of being with you

I can’t say how often these memories of you
Have helped me through the day when I was blue
Nor can I tell you how special I feel
To find when I’m with you my heart (do) you steal

I wish I could be with you from day to day
But if that’s not possible I’m happy to say:

         I’ll be thinking of you
         And our memories too
         Which will no doubt
         Turn my day about
