A frustrating experience
From the mist comes a scene,
Dark and intimate.
An image so clearly vague.
His presence faintly invigorating.
Green eyes meet colorless orbs
Partially obstructed
By that cute lock of hair I love so much.
I know it.
This time
It's going to happen.

The world slowly melts around us.
Heat rises as we lean closer.
Eyes lock in place.
He gently cups my chin
As though inhaling the aroma
Of the most delicate flower.
My heart beats rapidly
My hands rise to caress.
Slowly, my arms wrap around --

My pillow.
Reluctantly, I open my eyes
Just in time
To watch the scene, almost tangible,
Rise and fade
Like one breath in the icy winter air.

I am beyond wishing
That this cotton-polyester blend
Was something ... someone else.

Yet dreaming hands
Feel only translucent skin
And sleeping lips
Kiss only silent wishes.
