A small thought on the people in gonvernment. Just one thought of many.
I have bullets in my head
For words that I had said
They offended them, one man
He is called Government

For the people by the people was it to be
But we have driven far from this decree
But what know I, I am just a boy?
Allowing wild thoughts, my mind employee

I spoke a speech meant to be free
I spoke astray and they shot to kill me
Bullets found their way home
I lay there all alone
They let my body rot the street
The example of what all shall come to greet
Should free speech they choose to speak

But it was by blood our land was found
By blood our soil has remained fertile, sound
By blood will she come to know an end
A crime of passion from her husband Government

By the people for the people was it to be
But we have driven far from this decree

A new radical law built with prayer and rightousness
A bill of rights delivered without intention of biased twists
But twists have we made and loopholes played
Equality destroyed for power and pride arrayed
Struggle upon struggle, still have we bled for life
Through toils, and snares, backbiting, gossip, follies of foolish strife
How far we have come by a darkened day and fiery night
But how now we afflict ourselves, that affliction of blight
That very affliction that pressed us to first flight

For the people by the people was it to be
But we have driven far from this decree
