Friday night was the the worst night. Her soul was gone and her body twisted and turned frantically searching for it.
She screamed but there were no words, only jumbled pleas for death.

We fed her black morphine to calm her shaken heart.

And I held her hand and my father held her hand.

My own selfish sleepiness forced me to the confines of my own bed.
But not before translating my mother's broken prayer.

Please take her. She's not a person anymore. She's just a body please just take her. She's suffered so much.

And when we woke, her hands were cold, our prayers were answered.
