Deal with the Devil
The harvest may now begin,
golden stalks; their daughter--
reap and gather up sin,
ears and arms reached and caught her.
The farmer's wife is cooking,
and precious is nowhere around;
again, while she wasn't looking
her child is lost to the ground.
A deal with the devil was made,
years before with her father;
a large golden harvest each year
for the price of each son and each daughter.
