When I reluctantly killed a wasp!
Whether you were a mother or a father
I could not tell,
But I had encountered you many times.

Playfully, and with some fear of your sting,
I had shooed you to submission
And you had fled through the window.

But that morning,
That awful morning,
You had stood your ground.

How old your wasplets were,
I did not know,
But you had fallen,
That awful morning,
And I was relieved with a heavy heart.

I am a man now and a father,
I would not wish your children’s fate on mine.
