This was inspired by an old toy I saw lying on the ground.
Lifeless toy
Lying on the ground,
With no sound
And making no joy,
Here remains
A vanished childhood
Where the good
Is cleared by the rains.

Lifeless toy
With no expression,
By action
It did once make joy,
But long gone,
And so far away,
Is the day
When its life was won.

Lifeless toy,
Where is your small child
And your wild
Surroundings of joy?
You're alone,
Left to slowly rot,
And with naught
But time to your own.

Lifeless toy,
See time's ravishes,
Finishes,
And killings of joy.
See how time
Makes the past faded,
Us jaded,
And life less sublime.

Lifeless toy
Lying on the ground,
With no sound
And making no joy,
Here remains
A vanished childhood
Where the good
Is cleared by the rains.
