Late-Night Poem
The stars in the sky
Are winking at me tonight
As I sit in wonder
At this incredible sight.

Man, I wish I was a star
With its brightness and beauty
But here I am, sitting afar
In a deceived world turned ugly.

Man, I wish I was a star
With people gazing and staring in admiration
Where dreams, hopes and loves travel afar
And grab tight the twinkle with clasps of affection.

Man, I wish I was a star
But here I am, down below
In a place where love is gone and life is hard
And all my efforts have become unknown.

I dream of being a star
And people would stare at me and dream
Of a better life, not one so hard
And, just for a little while, life wouldn't be as bad as it seems.
