A poem about dancing
"Rhythm" 4.14.07

Their coattails swirl
Seems too dramatic
The ball room dresses
look fantastic.
The waltz, droning rhythm,
The pantomimed movements
I will not be found there,
In the swirls of monotonic.
Alone, saddened,
Watching such boring antics,
In a crowded room.

No. Give me rhythm,
Give me style,
Give me knee length dresses,
With slits too high,
And heels to bare,
a need for eclectic.

Jungle, jazz, and rhythm
Give me beats I feel alive in.
Salsa, cha cha,
Merengue, bachata
Or ragtime's rhythm
Maybe funk, or blues,
Or a swing time rendition.
Give me mambo,
Give me club,
Give me soul.
Give me the chance to go
And dance the night away.
