A poem written for a friend who has an eating disorder, and needs a wake up call.
"Distasteful Beauty" 8.31.07

Bottled up insecurities and failures in designer jeans
Starvation in its most tasteful form.
Graceful poses replaced by lust filled glances
And clothes missing modesty.
How gorgeous
Where eyes become hollow
And teeth rot
Thanks to your beautiful, self destruction.
"Beauty is only skin deep"
That's your motto
And that's what you're sticking to
Sitting on cold tiles with lips tinged-- blue
Body shaking from your mangling
While your corpse is begging;
"Please, no more suffering"
And then your beauty will be, no more.

Because in the end, maggots don't care what you look like.
Maggots don't care-- at all.
