the path of a broken heart
Straining, shrieking,
barking, clawing.
Screaming for anyone to hear.
My heart is leaking,
pouring, bawling,
listening to the laughter of fear.

In the depths of the night
is when life becomes real,
something you feel.
Not something you might.

You breath through the pain
that drives you insane
till breath is all you can smell.
Under the earth,
chosen by birth.
Breath is what guides us through hell.

In time there is light
that shines on the dead
to guide where they’ve lead.
Exposing the point of this plight.

Till then we lay.
We weep and we pray
that salvation might one day be ours.
Lost in the sorrows
of promised tomorrows,
treading in a sea of lost hours.

Hours become days,
so the calendar says.
As seconds are all that we know.
It was time, this they vouch,
gave way to the couch
and now there is nowhere to go.

There was never a moment
you were alone my dear.
I know this was never clear,
but I simply had no means to show it.

Pushed through the vessel.
Alone from the start.
The day we are born, we are dying.
Bleeding the way
through ash and decay
the lovers are wicked and lying.

It takes time to repent,
all the love you have sent
before hell had opened his eyes.
It was there in his smile,
you were fooled all the while,
till he poisoned your heart with his lies.
