young love
She lounges comfortably on the deep, plush couch.
Her mind wandering amongst the unseen stars.
She is dreaming of her future.

She is casually dressed in faded blue jeans and an over-loved T-shirt.
Her shoes dropped gently to the floor and her small-socked feet are revealed.
The room is softly lit.
         The music is low.
She begins to listen to the song that is playing.
She relates to the situation.

Tears roll slowly down her smooth cheeks.
She remembers times long past.
Wondering how her life would differ had she remained with him.
And on she dreamt ~ remembering the good,
ignoring the bad.
Suddenly the realization,
She is the fool.
Here she is wishing for something that has long since disappeared.
Watching her future go by without her.
The song changes, and she is back.
