When our life catches up with us...dedicated to Dutch
I never saw it set, was not there at the time
When genes began to form, them to be mine
I never felt it snap around my ankles so lean;
But still I cannot move, found out just what it means.

You cannot move away, you cannot hear them say
Something’s going wrong.
You cannot heed their pleas, ignore them everyday;
Hey! I’m still strong!

You cannot hear your ears, slowly going deaf
And though you turn up volume loud, what is left?
You cannot see, your eyes slowly going blind;
So search the way you live, another excuse to find.

You don’t know where they’ve gone, all those friends you had.
You look around, they’re not here, Wooh! Don’t be sad:
The problem must be theirs, what have I done wrong?
My life is still on track: still I hear the song.

You cannot move away, you cannot hear them say
Something’s going wrong.
You cannot heed their pleas, ignore them everyday;
Hey! I’m still strong!

I’m soft, irresolute, but it’s a New Year.
Must decide to change my life, else ever live in fear.
I’ve got to claim it back, the life I used to live.
There can’t be greater gift to myself to give.
