This is about a friend of mine that is no longer with us.
Ken

I can’t seem to remember
I lost that feeling
I lost my memory
I need to find it
I board a plane and head east
When I land I take a journey north
It’s a strange yet familiar journey on the left
I go through that dark yet fantastic city
The castle looking down at me
I long to stay and walk those cobbled streets
Knowing that my journey takes me further
I proceed to find my memory
The A9 delivers me to hallowed ground
Another castle looks down on me and smiles
It welcomes me home
My memory starts to come back
The indelible tower overlooks my destination
As I approach the grassy area around the loch
My heart starts to race
As my mind is flooded with his presence
I start to remember
Something doesn’t feel right
Various thoughts start to come back
Thoughts of his restlessness
His desire to live
His eagerness to make his point
Still an unclear feeling arises
I journey back home
And I realize that I need to head west
To that last spot
Where I last heard him and last hugged him
The last place I saw him smile
I didn’t realize I needed to be in Chicago
So far from Scotland where it all began
My memory is back
I am overcome with feelings
Feelings of longing to see that bright smile again
I remember now
My memory is back
He will live on in my spirit and in my heart
