The cost of life is - life and innocence.
A windpipe’s crushed
The feast begins
With a quick kill
It’s not in anger
Nor for a thrill
A breath is lost
Blood is lapped
A tiger feeds
Nothing’s wasted
Fulfilled needs

A soft touch
A prick of pain
Sweet innocence dies
The wheel has turned
Softly she cries
The eternal enigma
To sustain life
Something is lost
The price that’s paid
Covers the cost
