I'm standing here in this dark, empty place, with tears in my eyes, grief upon my face.
Winter

I'm standing here in this dark, empty place,
With tears in my eyes, grief upon my face.
I shiver from the chill that cuts like a knife,
the chill of a bitter winter that has set into my life.

I look up into the sky, trying to find the sun,
I look around to find help, but there is none.
I continue my journey through the cold, bitter wind,
trail of tears turn to ice, a trail that seems to never end.

I look for shelter to keep me warm, to keep me protected,
to keep my wounds from being infected.
Just when I feel like there's no place to lay my head,
"Come unto me and rest," is what a voice said.

I know that this voice was Jesus speaking to me,
calling my name to come to him ever so gently.
He took me in and nursed me under his care,
he says, " I will never put more on you than you can bare."

Instead of tears of ice, they become warm and light,
and he says, "My child, weeping only endures for a night."
Joy is coming, you just wait and see,
all of the happiness and blessings I have for thee."
