Seconds Spent in Sadness
(Contest entry for Lexi's Poetry Challenge.)

A boy runs, a puppy gives chase.
An old man sits to watch the race.
All life's cares now driven away.
A wind blown tear upon his face.

Rising up, it's time to go.
How I got here I don't know.
Light fades to dark, anger to fear.
Helpless tears born of many years.

A boy runs, and mother gives chase.
An old man stops to watch the race.
Drinking in all the sights and sounds.
With wind blown tears upon his face.
