On Christmas Day, my Aunt passed away. I wrote this to help deal with those emotions.
I Am Home

Christmas is a time for family and good cheer
Time to hold on to those that we Love so dear
A time for colorful lights that make the night so merry
And Christmas trees with more presents than you can carry

Children and grandchildren laughing and singing
Don’t ever forget the joy they are bringing
This is what I want you to remember
The Love that we shared each and every December

I know it will be hard for you each year
To think about Christmas without a tear
But please do not shed any tears for me
As the next Christmas comes and you decorate the tree

Think of all the Love and joy that we shared
From when we were young until we were gray haired
These are the good times I want you to remember
The good times we shared come every December

I want every Christmas to be oh so dear
And I want you to know I’ll always be near
Always remember what it meant to me
To have you all close, and to decorate the tree

As I watch you from Heaven I just want to see
You singing and laughing as you remember me
I have not gone, I’ll always be near
I am happy and joyful and oh so safe up here

I am with you all each and every day
Just now I am with you if a different way
I watch over you and share in your life
I’ll keep you safe and away from strife

I’ll always be here if you need to talk
Just speak to me as you work or as you walk
My answer to you will always be clear
Just take a moment and you will hear

It is so very beautiful here
All life’s questions answered so clear
The Light that is God is so peaceful and bright
Sometimes I wonder how there is a night

So many a joyous reunion have taken place
And each one ends with a great embrace
The Love that we share, it just never dies
And you find Love from some that come as a surprise

For in Heaven you find that we are all one
We are the same, you and I, not a unknown someone
We are the children of God, and here you will see
Just what true Love was meant to be

I see the pain that you all feel, your empty hearts and the loss so real
Those tears that you shed, I wish I could steal
But it’s natural that you shed tears for a time
As you think of my passing from that lifetime

But you all need to know I am so happy here
So many Loved ones around and God is so near
And I am still with you each day and each night
I’m holding you now, holding you so tight

You all need to know I Love you so much
And though I am happy, I still miss your touch
You can’t see me, but trust me I’m there
I’m that glint on the snow, that wind in your hair

I am home now, I am at God’s side
It hurts me to see how much you have cried
Carry on with the knowing that I am so near
Carry on with our memories, not with a tear

We are of God, his son’s and his daughter’s
In Heaven we all will be, beside still waters
Until that time, worry not for me
For I am at home, where I am meant to be
