I'm sure most wives reading this will know exactly what I mean.
A WIFE’S LAMENT

Another night goes by once more,
With angry words and slamming door,
Why can’t it stop, why wont it end,
Why can’t we let the heartbreak mend
Things just start to finally come right,
When downhill it goes – Another fight!

We seem to differ more each day,
We can’t agree on what we say,
He says I always spend too much money,
He’s favorite expression is “Its not funny!”
There’s always a grumble, a mutter, a moan,
From the time he gets up till the time he gets home.

“You’re too untidy!” “You don’t clean the mess!”
You watch too much TV!”. “You couldn’t care less!”
“If there’s crayons on the floor, you leave them right there!”
He shouts all the time, it doesn’t seem fair.
I’m sure I’ve tried hard, and tried to improve,
I coped with the transfer to Durban, the move,

I’ve saved up some money, and put it aside,
To use on our home and treat it with pride,
I’ve remained a loyal and faithful wife,
Promised to stay with him the rest of my life,
We have three lovely children, he has to agree,
So why cant he relax – and just LET ME BE ME !
