When tears become smiles and pain becomes laughter...its all on the exterior
“It’s all on the Exterior”

I try to stop it
I look up, thinking it would go away
People ask why I cannot seem to stop blinking
With a simple smirk I say, “Just something in my eye”

I try to hide it
Smiles and laughter through the day
Nobody would have guessed that behind all that,
I was trying to stop it

With all this stopping and hiding
Nobody knows the real me
Because one smile turned into 100
And laughter became this exuberant spirit

It’s a shame that it’s all on the exterior
Because I am now a pro at stopping and hiding
I have stopped the tears from plummeting for so long
I have forgotten how to cry
I have hid all the hurt and pain for too many years
That I cannot make out what I feel anymore.
