A Poem I wrote for an english project that addresses the problems in our world.
Why am I here and why are you?
So much controversy we don’t know what is true.
The government telling us wrong from right.
The church saying "forgive rather than fight."
My brain is all jumbled and full of confusion.
My eyes can’t see through this haze of illusion.
I don’t think you know what I am talking about.
It’s like being trapped in a box, you just want to scream and find a way out.
“She’s so young and naive.” Is all I seem to hear.
But they don’t know the problems I see so very clear.
Can’t anyone explain to me how or when things went wrong?
Can someone please point out to me just what is going on?
The world seems to have changed so much since our parents were young.
As have the hymns of freedom they so gloriously sung.
We’re unable to stop the shedding of tears.
And are always hiding and cowering from our fears.
No one stands up, and pleads to be heard.
No one objects or says one little word.
All of them silenced before they can begin.
All of them broken from the war they never win.
So this I say to you and you alone.
Stop the wars, the scandals, the lies, and bring everyone home.
